Screaming, hollering, censuring types...who only want to plant certain catch phrases......through the lips of the interviewee..They want their predominantly white, upper middle class audiences to hear the usual crap..."do you condone" "You were a rioter, werent you once a rioter"...what floosy, ignorant-ass, bitchy nonsense......and then comes the usual finger pointing at immigrants...And who are they interviewing? Darcus Howe, well known writer and editor of Race Today....and the way this person speaks to him...hostile, ignorant, rushed....Its a shame how women get discredited...remember the Galloway interview? And everyone is watching TV and counting how many blacks, how many whites, how many browns...just to salve their predetermined notions of what went wrong..Everybody is rolling their eyes and their heads...and talking about destruction and landmarks etc etc...and how they care about the heritage stones from 1931.... Did Jagger once sing about this....hello? and now its become routine.....and then they tried to plant a bullet on police wireless set as coming from him.. turned out it was police issue bullet!!...So that story has dissolved more or less. Meanwhile what these foolish people just dont get is that people riot..not because they want to steal and embellish their apartments...they want to F------- DESTROY...that is what the real reason is...They are disaffiliated, disenfranchised, rejected..... they see vapid looking mannequins staring at them with clothes that cost 500 dollars...and they see it day after day.....as they walk to the unemployment lines in tottenham...and now the usual shit has started...muslims...foreigners...gypsies...carribeans.... and crying south asian shop owners sprinkled in to keep the divisions intact...I guess they never learnt from Watts, Rodney King, Fredy Villanueva.... To equate this to WATTS is an overstatement, as it would be to Soweto. This is a game of justification - what rage/outrage is 'justified'. In the vain of protest, I'd love to see how many Ipads (or 8 track players) were jacked during Soweto. Is today's bread & milk a flat screen TV or a custom $500 suit (yes they're jacking that $500 suit that folks are wearing… so they can wear it themselves)? Darcus Howe interview was an atrocity (this interview really is an equivalent to saying there are “monkeys in the zoo”) but that doesn’t really give you anything new (like you needed to see that to know that the media had a bias).
Oppression thru austerity, perhaps, unjustified killing of a black man perhaps (btw - if you want to 'plant' a bullet, you will plant it. the fact that the police came out and said it was a police bullet is a half-assed 'sorry' by the police. And the media taking liberties with any small fact. This ain't no true plant.)
What justifies to what extent. Is one police station enough? Is one Curry's Digital or Boots or 4 story apartment building enough? Oh wait, there are apartments above those businesses being torched with couples/and families. Collateral damage I guess. Spin is spin, and rioters will spin to the their needs (yes black, white or on the flip angry south asian store owner)… Darcus saw it coming, wonderful, I don’t doubt it. But let me know how much anyone would sacrifice their own families' personal life long belongings and well-being to a rebellion in the name of response rage of Duggan (I know I wouldn’t let any rioter within 100 feet of my home - ‘by any means necessary’) (BTW Duggan’s family held a peaceful protest). Does the indignation at the injustice allow one to stand aside as your apartment, or your grandmother's home or your uncle's home and store were torched to the ground (and jump and holler in grand justification, while slipping a few free cell phones down your underwear). Or put your family in harm's way to watch the righteous rioters - who are watching you right back, to look at whether they need to pass some retribution onto your ass. (yes I know folks in Clapham that are rather scared of even looking outside these days for fear of silly retribution knowing there's no safety or coverage).
The ethnic liberal redneck in me says: water cannons? Really? At this point perhaps a put a single cap in their a-- and let's figure out where the armed resistance really goes. Have the fighters fight not take random collateral innocents with them. Well the capitalistic revolt knows no bounds.
